The Hamilton House Museum is a historic house museum, listed on the State and National Register of Historic Places, curated to provide the visitor an experience of stepping back in time. As you walk through the front door you are transported back to the Colonial Era and the home of the Hamilton-Van Wagoner Family.


The museum is operated and maintained by the County of Passaic and the City of Clifton. Visitors to the Hamilton House Museum can tour the historic house, view different exhibitions of the collections, and take part in a range of educational and public programming.

Hours of Operation

Saturday and Sunday: 9:00 am–5:00 pm
​Tours on the hour beginning at 10:00 am
*no tours between 12:00pm -1:00pm*

Closed Thanksgiving Day, Easter, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and January 1

Guided Museum Tours

Guided tours are offered daily Thursday thru Sunday. Tours of the Museum are about an hour in duration and leave on the hour beginning at 10:00 am (no tours between 12:00pm - 1:00pm). General admission can be purchased at the lower level of the Museum. Please follow the brick walkway to the rear entrance.

Group Visits & Tours

Advance reservations are required for all adult and student groups of 10 or more, and for any third-party guided tours, regardless of size. For more information or to make a reservation, please call our offices.

School Group Programs

School programs are offered Wednesday thru Friday (except holidays) between the hours of 9:00am - 2:30 pm. Programs generally run for ninety (90) minutes. For more information or to make a reservation, please review our Education Program Information or call us.
